* God wants everyone to go to Heaven!

GOD DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WHO WE ARE OR WHAT WE LOOK LIKE OR WHAT WE'VE DONE. HE LOVES US ALL THE SAME.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him". Revelation 3:20 Jesus is saying that He stands at the door of our heart, knocking and knocking, patiently waiting to be invited in. He will never barge in uninvited. You must invite Him in.

* However, God is holy and cannot ACCEPT US as we are because we are sinners.

WE ALL SIN! SO, WE NEED SOMEONE TO REDEEM US OF OUR SINS IN ORDER TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND GO TO HEAVEN. JESUS IS OUR REDEEMER.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:17

* we must recognize that we have sinned, ask forgiveness, and believe in jesus.

ASK JESUS FOR FORGIVENESS IN ORDER TO ACCEPT GOD'S FREE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO BE SAVED; IT IS ONLY THROUGH THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS ON THE CROSS.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." John 14:6
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Pray Them to Heaven

* our responsibility as christians is to pray for our loved ones

They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:31 This does not mean that our children or spouses or parents will be saved when we become Christians, but that each could be saved if they would personally accept Jesus. That means we must be in prayer and we must raise our children to believe in Jesus. If you did not raise your child to believe in Jesus, it's never too late. Or if you raised your child to believe in Jesus and s/he does not currently follow Jesus, it's not too late. We are to pray for our unbelieving loved ones, so they can turn to Jesus.

Be consistent! Don't give up!

* I'm not sure what to say to God

Talk to God as you would a friend you respect and love. It's not the specific words you use that will make God listen to you. If you are saved, you have an advocate praying for you (the Holy Spirit - see Romans 8:26). Just pour your heart out to God and ask Him to save your loved one. Remember that He is your heavenly Father and He loves you and your loved one, and He wants your loved one to be saved even more than you do!
As Jesus said, "God is more moved by our hurt than our eloquence. Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference." Max Lucado
You can pray that God will: open the heart of your loved one, bring others into their lives to talk to them about Jesus, or provide you an opportunity and words to share Jesus with them. For more information on how to share your faith, check out this Billy Graham resource.

* What if my loved one believed in jesus as a child but is not following jesus now?

If your loved one truly accepted Jesus as savior, your loved one is saved.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life." John 5:24
Jesus said, "and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-30

Jesus told the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. The son, who left his father and went off to live a sinful life, came back to his father and repented. Notice that Jesus says the father accepted him with open arms. That is how our Heavenly Father will accept your loved one back, with open loving arms and forgiveness. They only need to ask.

how do they do that?

It's very easy. They don't need flowery or spiritual words. He listens to our heart.
They can pray that they know they have sinned against God, that they want forgiveness for their sins, that they know Jesus died on the cross for their sins and was resurrected, and that they believe in Jesus and want to invite Him into their heart.
The Sinner's Prayer here is a good example of a prayer they can use.

Why Should You Pray?

God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:4

but many times our loved ones want to go their own way without god.

WON'T A LOVING GOD ALLOW "GOOD" PEOPLE INTO HEAVEN, ESPECIALLY IF THEY WENT TO CHURCH as children?
